Dunkin'® MUNCHKINS® Holiday Campaign
2025
We collaborated with Dunkin’ and Artists Equity to weave a cohesive holiday narrative across every touchpoint, from storybook-inspired packaging to a children’s book and of course, a delicious, animated film. All wrapped up and tied with a bow, just in time to let it snow.
First, we started with the packaging.
Dunkin' produces nearly a billion units of cups and boxes each year, so we started with designing the holiday packaging as soon as we kicked off.
We took advantage of each specific surface, transparent cups and little cottage-esque carry boxes, to create extra silly vignettes. Just look at the cold cups, the MUNCHKINS look like they’re sledding through customer’s drink orders.
Our collaboration didn’t stop there. Next, we worked on a sweet, illustrated storybook to be sold in Dunkin’ stores.
At the same time, we began development on the animated commercial. The illustration team worked in tandem with the 3D team to develop a unique shape language that could work across both execution styles.
We tried out a lot of designs for our lil’ guy.
Hero Film
Mindy Kaling provided the voice over, and we brought the derpy and delicious looking characters. We took inspiration from the playful mood and designs on the boxes as we brought them from 2D into 3D.
No detail was spared, our 3D team even hand-knit the gloves worn by the little kid.
Little Shorts
The look and feel from the hero spot helped us create 3 additional shorts centered around the Munchkins. Finally, we get to see what those little dough balls are up to when nobody is looking.
