BUCK partnered with GitHub to create a cohesive and dynamic design system for their online platforms. This system then extended to a suite of digital and physical materials used at their annual conference, GitHub Universe.

The Theme and Approach

We focused on GitHub’s core messaging pillars: productivity, collaboration, AI and security. With these themes in mind, we designed a series of versatile icons to be easily recognizable, scalable, and suitable for various applications.

Building upon our previous collaboration, we also kept the beloved rubber duck that we developed for What Is Github? throughout the system. Can you spot it?

The System and Toolkit

These icons came together to form a flexible system that nods to the platform’s ability to connect and help people work together. And of course, we delivered a series of animations to bring a driving motion and energy.

GitHub then expanded our system into a comprehensive brand toolkit which was used across their digital as well as printed touchpoints and seen by thousands of attendees at their conference.
