Illumina is the leader of genomic sequencing, pioneering technology to help solve humanity’s most complex problems.

For their first ever brand film we wanted to avoid the traditional hype film so prevalent in the worlds of tech. 

Instead, we set out to capture the soul of the company and pursued deeper truths through fluid animated visuals that lead the audience on a journey from dream to reality.

"We the People" wins an Emmy

As one of the most famous and beloved living artists, Takashi Murakami’s exhibitions always create a lot of excitement and fanfare. For his first solo exhibition at the Broad Museum in Los Angeles, Takashi Murakami: Stepping on the Tail of a Rainbow, BUCK was invited to collaborate with Meta on six site-specific AR experiences.

We collaborated with our friends at Headspace to develop “MyHeadspace,” a campaign that reflects on real members and their personal journeys to living more mindful lives.

After a cross-country trip focused on live action, we jumped into bringing Headspace’s friendly force of geometric shapes into each member’s story through a mix of design and animation.

With Lunar New Year fast-approaching and a tight deadline keeping us on our toes, we dove into the world of three Riot Games titles: League of Legends, Wild Rift, and Teamfight Tactics.

What surfaced was this short film that takes you on a paper craft journey from workshop to Lunar Year Festival, encapsulating the magic and excitement that Riot Games brings to the celebration for gamers across the globe.

Our frequent collaborator, Meta, came to us to compose a new visual identity for Meta Connect 2022 — their annual event devoted to augmented and virtual reality.

We delivered an entire branding system (which informed all executions of the event) leaving no stone unturned in our efforts to create a holistic visual experience.

A Day in the Life: Albert Hogeol Lee

Through a novel combination of painting, live-action, and 3D, we told told a poetic story about healthy aging for Thorne.

The founders of 2x4 Foundation, Nikki and Emily, created a foundation with a simple idea: help connect donors to meaningful organizations working to better the lives of women in America.  We partnered with them to develop the foundation’s visual and verbal identity with a new name and logo, along with guidelines for assets and website development.

Lowe’s was feeling the holiday spirit this year so we teamed up with Deutsch on a holiday campaign to help them celebrate in style. With a sparkle of CG magic and some heart-warming live action, we brought the Lowe’s Gable to life, and decked the halls with bells and power tools.

When the pandemic hit in 2020, our annual holiday party went virtual, giving us our first bite of the “VR party” apple. 

While the experience was an exciting dipping of our toes into the VR water, we had a yearning for an even bigger, better virtual holiday experience. So we knew in 2021, we would have to go big with a truly immersive VR extravaganza—something that pushed ourselves and the medium into an exciting new place.

Taxes stink. What if doing your taxes were chill instead? For the launch of Cash App Taxes we manifested our best selves to dream up a low-stress campaign full of calm, gentle, ASMR inspired vignettes to ease viewers through the process.

Airbnb’s new “Aircover” protection program has your backside (and money) covered during your booking experience and stay.

We stepped in to help visualize memorable moments through a miniature, architectural dreamland built entirely by hand while a cast of composited CG characters revel in the joys of a stress-free vacation.

Almost a third of food grown in the U.S. never gets harvested because it doesn’t meet the superficial standards of a traditional grocery store. 

That’s nuts. (And also tomatoes. And zucchini.) 

This brand film celebrates how Misfits Market has worked out a better food system that gets high-quality, responsibly sourced goods to your door for less.

TAXI asked us to help them redefine the iconic Canadian brand, and we were pumped to craft an exciting new direction over the course of this year-long campaign.

Coda brings all your words, data, and teamwork into one powerful document. Familiar and simple, but evolved for modern workflows. 

Together with Coda, we dreamed up arresting combinations of animals, plants, and tools that represent the powerful mash-ups of productivity possible within a Coda doc. We then rendered these fictions of biology as whimsical naturalist drawings complete with faux Latin names.

Maybe nature can’t keep up with our imaginations. But Coda can.

Tinder is down for some casual fun and so are we! The result of our steamy hookup is a humorous spot which shifts the focus from the tech-driven app to our Darwinian need for human connection. 

For maximum tactility we use 3-D characters and practical sets. The result is a world you want to roll around in, in the buff.

Blur approached BUCK with this seed of an idea for the third season of Netflix’s “Love, Death + Robots” —  “a zombie apocalypse in tilt shift” — and asked if we could make it funny.

We said hold our tiny beer.

Vivo's ask was a designer's dream: they needed beautiful, high-end content to adorn the in-store displays at their flagship store in Bangkok. Without a dither, we joined them to imagine a series of visual environments to help elevate the shopper's experience.
